Work with us

We hire slowly and for a specific profile: people who can do primary research in difficult information environments and write about it clearly enough that a decision-maker acts on it.

What the work is like

Small firm, primary sources, short reports.

You will spend your time in registries, in documents, on the phone and, when a project justifies it, in the field. There is very little slide production here. Our deliverables are written, and the standard we hold to is that a reader who is not an expert can follow the reasoning and see where each conclusion came from.

Because we are small, an analyst who joins us is on live engagements within weeks rather than months, and will be in the room when findings are presented. The trade-off is that there is nowhere to hide: the work carries your name inside the firm, and you will be asked to defend it.

We work in French and English every day. Full professional fluency in French is required for most roles, and we say so plainly rather than listing it as desirable.

Open roles

Current vacancies.

All roles are based in Abidjan unless stated otherwise. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and we close listings when we have made a hire.

  • Full professional fluency in French and English
  • A writing sample you are prepared to be judged on

Analyst — Diligence & Investigations

Research Associate — Francophone West Africa

An entry route for strong graduates. Desk research, source monitoring, document translation and drafting support across all four practice areas, with structured supervision.

  • Degree in law, economics, political science, African studies or a related field
  • Native or near-native French; strong written English
  • Evidence that you can find things other people could not
  • No prior consulting experience required

Process

How we hire.

Four steps, normally completed within three weeks. We pay for the work-sample stage because it takes real time and we do not think candidates should absorb that cost.

01

Application

CV and a short note on why this work. No cover letter template, please — tell us something specific.

02

Conversation

Forty-five minutes on your background and how you approach a problem with incomplete information.

03

Work sample

A short, paid research task resembling real work, with a realistic deadline. We discuss what you produced rather than grading it silently.

04

Offer

Terms, references and a start date. We give feedback to everyone who reaches the work-sample stage, successful or not.

Applying

How to apply.

Send your CV and note to our operations mailbox with the role title in the subject line. If none of the listed roles fits but you think you should be working here, send a speculative application saying what you would want to work on — we keep these and do come back to them.

Email an application

Equal opportunity

We assess candidates on capability and integrity. We do not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, nationality, gender, religion, disability or age, and we welcome applications from candidates across the region regardless of which passport they hold. Where a role requires work authorisation we will say so at first contact rather than at offer stage.

What we do with your data

Applications are held for twelve months so we can consider you for later roles, then deleted. They are not shared outside the firm. If you would prefer us to delete your details immediately after a decision, say so in your email and we will.
